Robert Glenn ‘Bob’ Mootz, 70, of Merrill, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born December 30, 1947 in Merrill, son of the late Glenn and Meta (Sauer) Mootz. Bob and Helen Kay Hoffman met in Plum City, Wisconsin while he was on a squirrel hunting trip with his life-long friend, Charlie Hoffman. Bob and Helen were married on September 2, 1972 in Plum City. In his younger years, Bob worked on the family farm, he mowed grass at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Berlin, and he worked at the Fromm Brothers Mink Farm. After graduating from high school in 1966, Bob started working at Northern Door. He then took a job with SEMCO Windows and Door, where he worked until 1993. Bob also did leathercraft with the love of his life, Helen. They sold his leather goods at shows throughout the state of Wisconsin. Bob enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, hunting and shooting trap. He loved spending time with his family, telling fishing stories, cooking maple syrup and sitting around a campfire. He also enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, dart ball and he loved to play cards with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Helen Kay Mootz; son, John (JoAnn) Mootz and family; son, James (Ginnie) Mootz; daughter, Leah (Adam) Sliwa; brother, Ken (Sandy) Mootz; sister-in-law, Karen Mootz; and several four-legged furry grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Meta Mootz; brother, Dan Mootz; and two children, Joseph Edward Mootz and infant Mootz. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Merrill. Father Chris Kemp will preside. Entombment will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.
