Christine C. Langbecker

December 4, 1963 — December 12, 2017

Christine “Chris” Cay (Ollhoff) Langbecker of Merrill, WI passed away on December 12, 2017, surrounded by her family. Chris was born in Merrill, WI to John and Bonnie (Plamann) Ollhoff on December 4, 1963. Throughout her 54 years, Christine wore many hats and held many titles. After meeting the man of her dreams on New Year’s Eve 1981, she married her husband Larry in November 1982. Larry took on the challenge of showing this ‘city mouse’ the life and ways of a small rural farmer. To everyone’s surprise, Chris was quickly helping run their farm while raising their small children. Chris was also a talented artist, which she shared with the community through floral design. After working in the industry for several years, she took a leap of faith and opened her own floral shop, Pick-Z-Petals. She poured her creativity and compassion into this small business, undoubtedly making countless weddings, memorials, and proms memorable and beautiful. It was important to Chris that, through this business, she taught her kids the value of hard work and determination. She excelled at this while also ensuring her children were kind, thoughtful, and giving. Chris will be most remembered for her quick wit and humor, which was often shared with her grandsons. Chris was involved in the fundraising efforts for the Pine River Volunteer Fire Department. In her free time she enjoyed camping with her family. Chris was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie; her mother-in-law, Mable Langbecker; and her father-in-law, George Langbecker. Chris will be forever remembered by her husband, Larry; her children, Leah Brown ‘Princess’, Larry ‘Wimpy’, and Lacy Fox ‘the Favorite One’; as well as her daughter-in-law, Erin; and her ‘no-good sons-in-law’, Craig Brown and Dan Fox. She will also be forever remembered by her father, John Ollhoff; her sister, Kim Ollhoff; and her brother, John Ollhoff. Countless laughs and memories will be forever remembered by her grandsons, Brayton, Bryce, and Jameson. Chris is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Lorraine Plamann. Chris will also be fondly remembered by her many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews all of whom played an important role in her and Larry’s lives. A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at the Lincoln County Sports Club, Schulz Spur Road, Merrill, on Sunday, December 17, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Near the end of the celebration anyone gathered there will have an opportunity to share a special memory of Chris. The family of Chris wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Michelle, her nurse at Ascension St. Clare’s Hospital, for her compassion, knowledge, and care. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at www.taylorstinefuneralhome.com.
